you know you are getting old when...
So, Cameron and I were cuddled up last night watching television together. We were just flipping through the channels when Doug walked through the room. We happened to land on "Battlestar Galactica." Anyone remember that show?? Well, that led Doug and I to reminiscing about a few old shows that Cameron would have loved. (He currently LOVES watching the Dukes of Hazard, which just blows my mind!). Doug and I mentioned Gilligan's Island. We told Cameron he would have loved that show too and we briefly described the premise. Then, Cameron rolled over and asked, "was it in black and white???!!!!"

Today I was checking the MySweetSavannah blog and noticed a recipe for Nutella Chocolate Chip Cookies! So, I decided to come home and try it out. I must say it is my new favorite cookie recipe! In the words of Rachel Ray..... Yum - O!

the kids treats

Oh.... this is why I love Valentine's Day with children!
Another of my very favorite Etsy shops, Daninotes, was the inspiration behind these little treats for the boys preschool friends this year. Dani posted about a card she did with a homemade heart shaped crayon attached. I LOVED the idea and had to "steal" it this year for Noah's friend treats. (Thank you Dani!!)
Then, for Bryson's friends at preschool I used his continued love of dinosaurs. I had Dani do the same card but put "you are dinomite!" on it. Then, we found small plastic dinosaurs and attached them to the card. He LOVES the way it turned out! It makes me smile!!!!
preparing the treats
This weekend was all about preparing little Valentine's Day treats for teachers and friends.
I was really excited about the way they turned out and the boys even said they were excited about giving them out tomorrow!
We took Valentine's Day mugs and stuck a couple of hot cocoa packets inside and them wrapped them all up. Then,we finished it off with the handmade tag saying "you warm my heart!" (I think an idea like this was in a parenting magazine some time ago but I cannot remember which one to give credit to)

We also took these little ceramic cupcakes that I found at HomeGoods. I filled the inside with chocolates and wrapped it all up. We finished this one off with another tag that read "thank you for being so sweet!"
*the tag on the cupcake that says "sweet" is from a great little Etsy site I have mentioned before called Lemonadepaperie.

the sweetest thing ever!

Earlier this week Bryson had a little "problem" with his hands and really needed to put lots of moisturizer on at night time to help them heal. Well, this meant that he could not suck his thumb! Tragedy in my household at bedtime! So, I told him if he could not suck his thumb and make it through the night that I would fix him a super special surprise breakfast the next morning. He did it! And he got a super special breakfast!
So.... with Valentine's Day right around the corner, the boys decided that they wanted to do a super special breakfast for me and Doug. So cute!!! Saturday morning we woke to the sounds of dishes in the kitchen and the microwave going. Yes, the boys (minus Noah who was still in the crib!), were preparing microwave pancakes for me and toaster waffles for Doug. But, the super duper special part was they were drizzled in syrup and Valentine's Day M&Ms!!! LOTS of M&Ms!!! They put them on plates and then on my chargers and brought them to us - complete with milk and forks! It had to be the sweetest thing they have ever done together and for us!!!!!
And, the M&M message in the photo was on the counter for us when we went into the kitchen!
I love my little boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and the valentines are ready to be mailed out!

ahhh.... the week of love! Time to send out the Valentines! I have mentioned this before, but I really have never cared that much for Valentine's Day - until I had children! ( I feel like our significant others should "love" us and celebrate that year round!) Anyway, after having children, Valentine's Day takes on a whole new meaning.
As always, my Etsy "love," Daninotes, was so kind to do a little variation on a Christmas card and turn it into a Valentine's Day card. It turned out just perfect to share!

i was contacted by spaceships and laserbeams!
Yes, my husband said eventually it would happen!
So, about a week ago I received an email from Stephanie at SpaceshipsandLaserbeams.com, a new Etsy shop specializing in very cute party supplies just for boys! Just for boys... well I have THREE of those! Perfect! Anyway, Stephanie came across Noah's first birthday party post and asked about using it on her blog. Without hesitation, I agreed, and today she emailed that the feature is on the blog! I am still amazed at the response I received about Noah's fist birthday party. It has been so amazing to hear kind words and compliments from so many people. I hope that his second party turns out as wonderful! (I am in full time party planning mode already for Noah's second... and Cameron's tenth!!!!)
Thanks SpaceshipsandLaserbeams for sharing Noah's first birthday party!

another "love day" idea

I came across this idea tonight and had to share (since it is the week of "love!"). I hope to take a few photos of what the boys are doing for preschool friends to celebrate Valentine's Day soon and post. They have turned out really cute!

Enjoy!

in "case" you missed these...

I am loving these little iPhone and iTouch case covers from Daninotes! Cute, but in a sophisticated way!
Now, if only I could replace my iTouch with either a new one or maybe an iPhone, since Noah decided to "wash" my old iTouch in our toilet!!!!!!!!!!
*Info to purchase these found here.
