it started with a picnic and ended with a goose attack!

That would be our zoo trip over the weekend I am referring to! After a very long week last week, I decided that we needed a good "family day" of fun. So, we packed up and headed off to the zoo. What better place to spend a perfect weather day with three little boys?!

We made the destination of our trip a surprise until we arrived. The boys were very excited about spending time with their relatives, oh, I mean the animals!

Our day started with a picnic in Africa. (zoo hint.... parking in Africa seems less crowded than North America and they have the best picnic locations overlooking the water!) While enjoying our peanut butter and jelly sandwiches we were invaded by geese! Not just one or two, but lots! And they were not SHY! Several of them were about an inch away from snagging Noah's crackers right out of his little chubby fingers. It was funny to watch his face when they would walk right up and then "honk" at us if I shooed them away.

We toured around Africa and spotted elephants, giraffes, chimpanzees (who decided to pee right in front of the crowd watching, not good for a four year old to see!) Bryson's favorite, zebras, and caught a glimpse of Cameron's favorite, the rhino. My favorite part of the day was when we got to the giraffe and zebra exhibit. There are also ostriches in their exhibit. As soon as we walked up , Bryson said "giraffes... and geese - big ones, Mommy!!!" I had to stop to keep from peeing in my pants from laughing, and so did the lady beside us.

After touring Africa we stopped at Junction Plaza for ice cream cones and a carousel ride. Unfortunately, the carousel had already closed. Sad. But, the ice cream cones with sprinkles made up for it.

Then, it was off to North America to see a polar bear, sea otters, sea lions, red wolves, fish, and some sort of warthog thing along the way. Needless to say the boys had a great time, even little Noah!
